Grupo Catalana Occidente adheres to the principles of the Global Compact and it is committed to the Sustainable Development Goals. It is a signatory to the UNEP-FI Principles for Sustainable Insurance and UNPRI Principles for Responsible Investment.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
The business of the Group's companies and the projects of Fundación Jesús Serra intrinsically impact the SDGs because of the very nature of their core activities. These companies are promoting new initiatives that are based on actions, programmes and information published on some of these goals.
The Group remains committed to the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact. This implies a commitment to align its strategies and operations with these universally recognised principles, which are grouped into four areas: human rights, labour standards, the environment and combatting corruption.
UNEP-FI Principles for sustainable insurance
In 2020, the Group adhered to the Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI) drawn up by the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative, which constitute a benchmark framework for the sector in the attempt to address social, environmental and governance risks and opportunities. More information in the PSI 2021 Report.
UNPRI Principles for Responsible Investment
Aware that the exercising of its corporate responsibility can contribute to a comprehensive and stable global economy that helps protect the world's assets, Grupo Catalana Occidente is a signatory to the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) agreed by the UN in 2005.
Net-Zero Insurance Alliance
Grupo Catalana Occidente is member of the Net-Zero Insurance Alliance (NZIA), convened by the UN, assuming the commitment to decarbonise its portfolios to zero net greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by the year 2050 and thus avoid an increase in global temperature above the Paris target of 1.5°C.
