The Jesús Serra Foundation was created within the Catalana Occidente Group. It dates back to 1998, with the incorporation of the Catalana Occidente Foundation as a private cultural foundation pursuant to an order by the Spanish Ministry for Education and Science. Since then, it has overseen and managed all the sponsorship and patronage activities undertaken by the Catalana Occidente Group.
In May of 2006, it was decided to change the name from the Catalana Occidente Foundation to that of the Jesús Serra Foundation, in recognition of the patronage work carried out by Jesús Serra, the Catalana Occidente Group founder, both personally and through the foundation.
The aim of our Foundation is to support a variety of institutions with initiatives to encourage and develop all types of cultural, scientific and, in general, intellectual activities, as well as research and investigation in any of these fields. The Foundation also cooperates with several community organizations. The Jesús Serra Foundation has opened up new ways of collaborating with sports, poetry, music and business, four of the main passions of Jesús Serra and who the Foundation is named after.
